Your Summer Self-Care Routine

Self-care is seasonal.

It isn’t something that should only be reserved for winter or for the weekends. Summer is a great time to think about self-care.

Even though it tends to be a busy season for most. With the gardening, social events and entertaining the kids during the holidays and you may spend more hours outside in the sun and heat, which can take a toll even as you enjoy fun summertime activities, so it is important to keep yourself well with an easy to maintain self-care plan.

With long sunny days and warmer weather, there are more opportunities than ever to switch up your routine and enjoy what the season has to offer. Make a summer feel-good playlist

Go On a Picnic

Picnics get us outside in the fresh air, hopefully disconnect us from our phones, and allow us to connect with loved ones over food. Make time for them and keep it simple.

Eat the Seasonal Food

Eat them often and allow your body to soak up the good nutrition of the season. Hit the local farmer’s market and look for new foods to try and experiment with – get to know the farmers and learn tips for using the fresh produce from their land.

Eating healthy fresh fruits and vegetables are the ultimate and easy self care strategy because they fuel our bodies and minds in the thing we must do multiple times a day, every single day.

Protect your skin

Wearing sunscreen is a must during the summer if you want healthy skin. Protecting yourself from the sun's UV rays will prevent skin damage, premature aging, and sunburns.

Sunburns are not only painful but can cause long-term skin damage. You'll notice redness and even blisters in severe cases. Sunscreen will block UV radiation and reduce its effects on the skin. It can also help reduce the risk of heat stroke, which occurs when we’re exposed to too much heat and sun. You even need to apply sunscreen on cloudy days since UV rays penetrate through clouds.

Keep Cool

Keeping cool can mean sitting in air conditioning, when necessary, as it is important to stay safe in the most extreme temperatures and be aware of the physical need to keep the body from overheating. However, air conditioning doesn’t have to be the only answer. You can keep cool and stay connected to nature at the same time by swimming in a mountain lake!

Welcome some self-care this summer by prioritising activities that promote joy, creativity and being in nature while also invigorating your health, energy, and well-being.
