The 3 ‘Chambers’ of the Heart Chakra – Part 3: The Right Heart

Please read my earlier journal posts (about the Heart Chakra - Part 1: The Left Heart and Part 2: The Centre Heart), where I introduced the reality that there are actually 3 parts to the heart chakra, namely the left, the right and the centre heart.  In this journal post I want to talk about the final chamber, the ‘right heart’.  It differs from the other 2 parts of this chakra in characteristics and the qualities it gives us.

Right Heart

The qualities of the right heart are responsibility to society, dharma, maryadas, and fatherhood.  This chakra is situated on the right-side of the chest, over the lungs, and on the opposite side to the left heart.  If you have a healthy right heart chakra your paternal qualities will be strong as this energy centre is given to us by our fathers.  That means you are unlikely to shirk responsibility and you will have a strong sense of duty in all your relationships, including towards your community and to your country.  It’s a lovely quality to have and is often overlooked in our current hyper-emotional and female-dominated society.  The role of men is too often denigrated by women looking to ‘go it alone’ but without a man and a woman you cannot achieve balance.  If you don’t have a strong father figure in your life, developing and meditating on this chakra can give you those qualities so you can manifest them in your life yourself if needed.  The father’s quality is the strict, no nonsense character who will give you the advice you need but maybe not the advice you want to hear!

Dharma is the religion that is innately within us.  Dharma is our instinct for right and wrong, which guides us to know the proper behaviour in any situation.  If we are in touch with this innate quality, our dharma will guide us to do what is good for our Spirits.  The 10 Commandments are the foundations of dharma.

Maryadas are the boundaries of human behaviour.  If we step outside of these boundaries then we tend to suffer or bad things may happen to us. For example, if we steal that will set off a chain of events that might lead to us being punished or exposed.  If we break any of the 10 Commandments or step outside of our duty to our spouse, our family, our society, our race or our country then we might set off a chain of events that might bring disaster back to us.  I have seen this happen time and time again.  And I found that staying within these boundaries brings a happy and harmonious life

Our best-selling Rose Quartz Heart Chakra Candle is the perfect support for meditating on the heart chakra; however, citrine crystals are very complementary to the right heart because they have a joyful and confident energy.  For this reason, you could also use our Citrine Crystal Essential Oil Roller Bottle for rubbing on the skin in the right heart area.  This roller bottle contains grapefruit, sweet orange, lemon and bergamot essential oils in argan oil.

Meditation is the best way to strengthen the right heart and increase our sense of duty and dharma.  Try this short meditation at home for the right heart:

  • Light a candle and sit comfortably, preferably on the ground so that the root chakra can be closer to the Mother Earth, which has a cleansing effect on all our chakras.
  • Close your eyes and place your palms face upwards on your lap. Place your right hand on the right heart, on the right-side of the chest – this will help you focus your attention there.  Hold your attention there for a few minutes and every time your attention wanders away, gently bring it back to this chakra.
  • Inside yourself, to your own Spirit, say the affirmation: Please make me a more responsible person. Please make me a dharmic person. Say it 12 times.
  • Continue to sit with your attention on this chakra for a while. Then after a few minutes, guide your attention up through the centre of your body to the crown of the head.  If you can’t do that easily, you can use your right hand and lift it slowly in front of you from the base of your spine to the top of your head.  Do this 7 times.
  • Then take your right hand and place it firmly on the top of your head and press down. Hold it there for a few minutes so that your attention stays there.
  • Move your hand back to your lap and keep your attention at the top of your head and sit quietly like this for a few more minutes.
  • Slowly open your eyes – hopefully everything will look brighter and you will be feeling more relaxed and energised.

Try this at home and I hope you feel more confident within your dharma!
